Prototype Update 0.2


Hello everyone and thank you for taking some time to have a look at the current state of our game ‘Deep Space Diner’. 

Progress has continued going smoothly this week with the prototype featuring more core game mechanics and finished art rather than placeholder assets. 

Programming Team

The programming team has continued to work on improving the farming aspect of the game by adding more crops that are able to be planted and harvested for more variety. 

As well as that the order machine has been implemented and you can now click on the order machine on the map to prop the UI screen in which the orders are displayed. You can then click to submit your cooked dishes to the customers or display more orders.


Art Team

As currently there is still a large number of crops and dishes not implemented in the game the art team has taken a break from working on expanding the menu. Instead there has been a focus on tiles, UI and more customers. 

These are the new tiles for the grass and farm plots. The design for this was partially inspired by the grass patterns in animal crossing. 



The new UI for the order machine has not yet been implemented but has been finalised and is ready to be added in the game.

We are hoping to have all the new UI, ingredients and recipes implemented by the end of December so hopefully the game will be easier to navigate and understand at that time as currently it can be quite difficult to recognise what the player is or should be doing.
